Hi all,

I use a parallel port plustek scanner (optic pro
9636T) and the direct device parport0.
It works fine but i would like to put the lamp off
when i don't use my scanner .
Is it possible ? If so, how could i do that ?

Thanks for your response.

Cheers

In my sane-plustek I've found that
You must put it in your /etc/sane.d/plustek_pp.conf i think.

option lampOff t
t is the time in seconds for switching off the lamps in
standby
              mode

I have the same parallel scanner which kernel version do you run for
working?

In my case, (kernel 2.4 doesn't recognize device)
                   (kernel 2.6 modules don't compile)

Can you or someone else help me?

Thanks

That correct, see also man sane_plustek_pp

option lampOffOnEnd switches the lamp off when leaving the backend.

Try the latest version from CVS, the module compilation issues should be
fixed now. but I recommend to use the user mode drivers. What is you
configuration?

When you're using the module, then your plustek_pp.conf will not work!
Can you please send the output of the following command to the list:
export SANE_DEBUG_PLUSTEK_PP=20 ; scanimage -L

You might also change
option lOffOnEnd 1
option lampOff 180

Ciao,
  Gerhard

Hi Jacques,

try the following plustek_pp.conf:

[direct]
device parport0

option warmup 30
option lOffOnEnd 1
option lampOff 180

This should fix your problem.
Ciao,
  Gerhard

Hi,

please can you explain your problems again?
What system, distribution, kernel are you using?
Which scanner?
Which SANE version?

When I'm talking about the CVS, I mean the daily snapshots from
www.sane-project.org...

Ciao,
  Gerhard

Excuse me, I'm very confuse too with this scanner.

I have a gentoo with a linux-2.6.7-gentoo-r11 kernel, i can join my .config

I have emerged:
- sane-backend 1.0.14-r3
- sane-frontends 1.0.12
- xsane 0.93

my scanner is a plustek optic-pro 9636T with parrallel interface, it's
not a reference but i know it works fine on my M$

Important: _i use udev_

What are the commands to do?

modprobe ppdev?

how can i detect my scanner?

thanks for help Gerhard
