Hi,
I'm not sure if it's possible to find out who does the gamma correction.
I assume, that most of the scanners have enough memory to set
at least a corresponding look-up-table....
Anyway, I think there's no slowdaown in scanning speed if it's
done within the backend or the scanner or at least xsane, as the
look-up operations are fast...
look-up means use the pixel value as index within the table and the
result is the new pixel value.
xsane gamma correction can be switched off or at least setting the
correction to 1.0 means a 1by1 conversion...
Cheers
Gerhard
