My question is with regards to fonts and any suggestion will be appreciated.

In the config file, the following is noted:

####################################################################
# Support for many kinds of font thru FreeType 2.x
# Must also set FREETYPE_FONT_DIR in the Freetype 1.x section
####################################################################

Is that to say freetype 2.x will not work without freetype 1.x? If this is not the case, can I use FreeType 2.x libs to use ***.ttf font files?

I use the fontdemo.x example to try to determine where my problem is. I replace the ttf font with bdf font and only fot the following messages:
...
pcf_createfont: helvB12.bdf,27 not found
...

could someone offer some advice on dealing with this?
Much thanks
