Perhaps disable VTSWITCH, it does some funny things with /dev/tty0,
IIRC.  Look at the source too, src/driver/vtswitch.c

Otherwise, perhaps use the TTYSCAN driver, just to change things.

The pipe driver is pretty basic, perhaps put some debug statements
in there to see whether nano-X is in fact ever getting anything from
the pipe...
