First, AFAIK, Japhar is dead. I don't know of CalssPath and other from
Hungry.
Second, Kaffe is entirely GPL, did you know? (www.kaffe.org)
Third, APIs (io, net, AWT, ...) are available from Kaffe (except Swing)
under GPL too.
We could easily use Swing from Japhar if it's 100% Java.
Kaffe runs well, is well designed ans scored about half the speed of the
better JVM (TowerJ) in VolanoMark bench (see www.volano.com) and I think
it's not to bad!
Just my thoughts : Swing is not a MUST with Java/MWin since it's intended at
low memory devices. Kaffe has an AWT package entirely in Java (except low
level drawing routines) which I think is better suited as embedded devices.
