Ok, to describe better ..
if I issue the command gpm -R -t ps2 it acts like it worked, but issuing a
ps ax command shows that it is not running (along with the fact that no
mouse control is available) so GPM decided to die silently.
Actually I have discovered that this happens 20 minutes ago with the 2.4.2
kernel only.. I am wondering if the 2.4.2+ series of kernel has ps2 mouse
support broken...
But it get's stranger....
If I start GPM in the following manner...
gpm -D -R -t ps2 &
it works perfectly. (except for the fact that I am running in debug mode)
This one has me stumped, i need the 2.4 series kernel (2.4.2 or higher
specifically) for hardware support.
Have I made this any clearer?
thanks.

- what is the target platform and the host platform (uname -a) ?
- what version is gpm on both platforms (gpm -v) ?
- what are the exact symptoms of "non-working", with and w/o "-D" ?
