Hi,
Did you see TUX in the upper left corner of the screen when you
booted Linux? If not then you are not using the framebuffer yet. You
have to modify your /etc/lilo.conf file and rebuild (reinstall
whatever..) lilo. If you provide the "vga=ask" line in lilo.conf,
then you will be asked to choose the video mode.
