Sure.  Forgive me Greg and Jordan if I am intruding, but this is more of a
linux question than a nanogui Q.

You can start your apps from rc.sysinit in your filesystem (or any of the
other boot scripts for that matter).  You may run into problems if you are
using a touchscreen and it is required to be calibrated upon startup.  I
have had problems in the past when not giving my ts enough time to write the
coordinates into the /etc/ file.  As long as you give it enough time to do
that (assuming you are doing it), your script should complete successfully
and boot your app after starting nano-X.  I have done this to start Java,
benchmark apps, etc.  Yours shouldn't be any different.  Good luck!
