It sounds like mozilla could just be dying and leaving the nano-X
server hanging around. I suggest running nano-X, the nanowm
window manager, and mozilla all within a shell script (see the
src/*.sh examples) and then you'll know if/when mozilla
exits, since the window will go away...
It's been awhile since I compiled up mozilla but I seem to
remember that it needed a couple things in order to keep
running. Also, it might only support > 8bpp so you might
try running 24 or 32bpp.
