Thanks for the detailed descriptions, the verticle line
problem is known, but not yet fixed. 
The 16bit stuff is neither a problem nor a bug, because when
selecting 42bit mode, you got 14bit resolution per color channel,
this is the maximum the LM9832 chip supports (14*3 = 42)...

The motor should be tuned somehow, when I've finished the
CanoScan stuff, I'll go back to the HP problems...
