Okay when you unpack sane-backends-1.0.9.tar.gz to let's say
/tmp
the you should be able to find
/tmp/sane-backends
or
/tmp/sane-1.0.9/sane-backends
Then to update the backends code you should use plustek-0.45TEST5.tgz
NO NEED to use plustek-module!!!!!
copy that plustek-0.45TEST5 tarball to
/tmp/sane-backends
there unpack the stuff
and there
./configure
should work
When you say you have at least
1.0.8 rpms installed, remove the prior to the ./configure step
That's it:
./configure
make all
and as root
make install
Hope this helps - don't forget to configure dll.conf and plustek.conf
