One thing worth noting is an application that is designed for a desktop will
have trouble scaling to a palm platform. Not in coding or libraries but
just in the philosiphy of how the software was written. 1024x768 at 32 bit
color compared to 200X180 at 4 bit color, keyboard,etc... An email app for
the desktop is starkly differnt from an email app for a palm device, and
rightly so. Both platforms are for different tasks. Granted there have been
giant strides in doing desktop things on a palm device (doom for example and
recently quake on the i-paq) but I would rather have a palm-device specific
program such as palmmail rather than, for example, outlook on my palm
device.
The most important aspect I see is intercommunication and the ease of a
software engineer to develop for the different platforms easily. FLNX is a
jump in the right direction for C++.
Sorry about getting into an off tangent. I'm just overly excited about
nanox and the projects I have for it.
