I was wondering if anyone here might have the answer, an hour long search on
the net didn't help.

on my development platform I start gpm with the following.

gpm -R -t ps2

for nano-x to use the mouse. everything works dandy.

on my target platform I have gpm compiled statically and start it with the
same statement.

I have /dev/mouse symlinked to /dev/psaux same as the devel station.

gpm will not stay running as a daemon. if I start it like this...

gpm -D -R -t ps2& it runs fine. but starting it that way in my rc.d
scripts will not work, nor will anything other than being root and issuing
it's command with the -D (debug do not drop to daemon mode) will work.

anyone have an idea why?

thanks.
